Great footfall for over three centuries… Members of a worldwide organisation… One of the main attraction’s England’s 2nd city… This place doesn’t even need to advertise right? Wrong. Even Cathedrals need a website.

Obviously word of mouth used to be enough for historic landmarks and places of worship to get people through the door; but with the internet now playing such a huge part in our lifestyle and even our communities, having an online presence is simply essential. People look to the internet for advice, entertainment, information, to organise events and more; with 4 out of 5 people now searching online to find information about their local area* organisations are missing a trick by not having a great website.

The work we did for Birmingham Cathedral is a great example of how traditionally offline organisations can embrace the power of the internet. Read our case study to find out more...

Birmingham CathedralAt over 300 years old the Birmingham Cathedral is Grade 1 listed and one of the oldest buildings in the city still used for its original purpose. Fascinating both inside and out, the cathedral is home to some remarkable treasures (not least the inspiring stained-glass windows designed by Edward Burne-Jones). A destination for frequent visitors and tourists alike the Cathedral is one of the largest places of worship in the city and part of the Birmingham’s cultural creative hub.

THE CHALLENGETo create a new website for the Cathedral that connected Birmingham Cathedral with the public online. It needed to be a safe space for members to easily share upcoming events and information in order to better to connect the Cathedral to the community and tourists alike.

OUR SOLUTIONDue to the religious nature of the organisation security was paramount - a site that could withstand potential hacker attacks was a vital part of the brief. We provided a CMS system secure enough for the sensitive nature of the site and also robust enough to withstand high volumes of traffic.

The site also needed to represent the values of the organisation in it's design, we partnered with established graphic designer Penguin Boy to create the visual identity. Collaboratively we created a brand appropriate for the profile and needs of the client and deployed an effective CMS system.

THE RESULTSA successful website and improved brand awareness overall - Secure and robust. Great design. Communicated with visitors. Connected to the community.
